Joey and I were fully prepared to stand our ground and visit Mil on Saturday for Mother's day. Joey was going to call her and say "Hey, YOU said mornings were too hard. We're trying to accommodate you." Then we received 2 messages from her.

In a sobby, pitiful, soft voice, she explained how Saturday wouldn't be good because she was planning on visiting with her mom. She just couldn't cancel because if something happened to her, Mil would regret it. Like with what happened to Nana. She had wanted to visit Nana in the morning the day she died but didn't make it down there. Then Mil went on saying this Mother's day would be hard without Nana but she understands we had plans and maybe we could come up next weekend.

Joey and I just looked at each other. I told Joey forget it. Let's just freaking go Sunday morning. Cause if we don't go, we'll never heard the end of it. EVER! I know we need to stand our ground with her but I don't know if I want to hear about us not spending mother's day with her the first year nana was gone. Which, ok. I get this would be hard for her. But really... I thought that was kind of a low blow to bring up Nana. How long is she gonna milk this?

We call her back and funny how after she repeated her sob story and after we told her we'd be there, her voice went back normal.

So Sunday morning, we're going up to spend Mother's Day morning with her. We're supposed to be there between 7 or 8. Joey asked what she wanted for breakfast. She replied strawberry shortcakes. Are you kidding me? What about the people who want FOOD to eat for breakfast. I'll have to bring up my own breakfast.

The other half of Mother's day will be spent with my family. Dad is bbqing tritip. Mom has requested I bake chocolate chip cookies for dessert and I'm also to provide a green salad. Not a problem. I still have no clue what to get my mom. I'm thinking about a macy's gift card or something.

Happy Mother's Day to all you mom's out there.

So how was Mother's Day?

Gord gave his mom a call a little while ago. She lives 3 hours away.
